A recent article highlights the inherent problems with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), including the issue of providing higher rating for accredited business. You cannot become an accredited business without paying money to the BBB. So, in essence, companies have the ability to positively influence their ratings for the better by paying money to the BBB.
